PS Nachtdistributie, originally a family business, has been providing overnight transport in the BeNeLux for the last 25 years. Due to the efficient method of transport, they facilitate a shorter supply chain for companies. Packages are always delivered before 7:00 am. In other words: Every day a flying start for your company!

I was responsible for the restructuring of the existing content & information architecture, interaction design, visual concepting, visual design, and a small iteration on the branding.

Problem

The PS Nachtdistributie website was outdated, not reponsive and didn't match the company's identity.

From a company in the overnight transport of film rolls, PS Nachtdistriutie has grown into a very versatile night-time distribution company with a well-organized IT infrastructure. Where in the past everything was sorted by hand, it is now done with advanced sorting machines. By cleverly dealing with technical developments, PS Nachtdistributie ensures that their main goal, shortening the supply chain of companies, is increasingly efficiently achieved.

After the takeover of PostNL in 2017, PS Nachtdistributie could retain its own form, but was operated under the wing of it’s parent company. The time was right to better communicate the personality and story of PS Nachtdistributie.

A new & refreshing start

The original PS Nachtdistributie website was created by the company and maintained within the organization itself. This meant that as time went on, more and more articles, pages and items were added without removing old content and duplicates. So our first task was to collect and examine everything and go through it all with a red marker.

From the start it was already clear that the website had to play a smaller role within the company. There is no marketing department within the organization and with all developments going on, there is simply too little time to regularly provide the website with new content. Where the previous website contained everything out and about PS Nachtdistributie, this time we only wanted to focus on the story and personality.

Although we did add support for the management of extra content through the means of downloadable white papers and use cases when the time & need arises in the future.

The first steps to become a professional, modern and above all human brand.

The renewal of the website was the first step in the modernization of the PS Nachtdistributie branding. The website is one of the most important touchpoints for potential new customers. Because PS-Nachtdistributie delivers products inside the vehicles of mechanics at night, so they can immediately start working in the morning, we found it important to establish the brand as a more human-oriented logistics company. Delivery workers gain access to the vehicles & lockers of employees wich requires a certain level of trust.

With the photography we want to give a small peek behind the scenes. This degree of transparency is the first step to building that level of trust. By playing a lot with strong contrast differences, we emphasize the time in which PS Nachtdistributie operates, without creating the feeling that everything is playing in the shadow. The night has an ominous character, and we want to prevent that.
